And Then There Were Four…

… That’s the number of vacancies on Ruddington Parish Council following ANOTHER resignation this week.

This time it’s a Councillor who has only served for seventh months. Robin Crinage states: “I feel I am unable to carry out my role of Parish Councillor as I would want to due to my commitments.”

This latest departure comes less than two weeks after no one came forward to contest empty seats in Easthorpe Ward and Manor Ward (which will now be filled by co-option) and only a week after Flawford Ward Councillor John Noble stood down, also citing time constraints. Robin’s resignation leaves TWO vacancies on Manor Ward.

A notice has already been posted to encourage an election to be held for the Flawford Ward seat. In order for a poll to be held at least TEN electors from that parish ward must put in a written request to the Returning Officer at Rushcliffe Arena by January 30th.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 7th 2018:

We’re happy to correct an earlier error (thanks to Councillor Paul Reedman) to report that, in fact, an election WAS successfully requested for Flawford Ward. This means that villagers in this area of our village will get chance to vote for a candidate to represent them this time around. A notice has now been posted to encourage an election also to be held for the fourth empty seat – the second Manor Ward vacancy. In order to trigger a poll at least TEN electors from that parish ward must put in a written request to the Returning Officer at Rushcliffe Arena by this Friday 9th February.

Meantime, as for the two co-options, the process has been agreed, the vacancies are now being advertised and interviews will take place on Tuesday 13th March.

If you’re interested in becoming a village Councillor you can contact Ruddington Parish Council directly for more information.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 8th 2018:

It has been confirmed today that an election has also been successfully requested for the second Manor Ward vacancy. If contested, elections for both this seat and the Flawford Ward seat will be held on Thursday 22nd March. We’ll let you know here at RUDDINGTON.info whether this happens and, if so, the candidates’ manifestos, once they’re available…
